Words
Hi, everyone! I haven’t had much time this past week to put
together a whole lot, but I just wanted to share a few things with you.
Last week I had
to write an eight-line poem as an assignment.
I could choose the topic, the metrical foot, and the rhyme pattern as
long as it had eight-lines arranged in two stanzas. True, this is probably more suited for The
Avid Author blog, but considering I’m in the middle of a writer’s tips series
there, I decided to share my poem with you here on Heart-chords instead. I don’t claim to be a poet, but rhymes come
pretty easy to me. Here’s how it came
out. Just another reminder of how
powerful words are and the effects they can have if we don’t take the time to stop
and think before speaking. “With the
tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been
made in God’s likeness. Out of the same
mouth come praise and cursing. My
brothers, this should not be.” (James 3: 9&10)
Words
Like an arrow
o’er its mark
Words! So dull
and inadequate
To express what
was in her heart
The fiery words
that tore them apart
And now slowly
drew the pen I’m sorry
Words giving
love a new start
And secondly, Heart-chords and The
Avid Author are going to be temporarily neglected for a few weeks because my
family and I are going on vacation to New York and Pennsylvania. We’ll be visiting Niagara Falls for the first
time, attending at the spectacular Sight & Sound Theater to watch a play
dramatizing the Bible story of Jonah, visiting family up there, touring the
Gettysburg battlefield, and staying on a real Old Order Amish working dairy farm! Lots of excitement ahead! We’ll be returning on the fourth of October,
and shortly thereafter, I’ll be resuming my blogging, writing about our
experiences. I’m going expectantly, and
I’m so excited to see what the Lord’s going to speak to me to share with you
all! Until then, reader-friends, take
care, and I hope you’ll check back in a few weeks to hear about the lessons I
learn on our trip. As a parting lesson
though, make sure you don’t miss my post which follows, titled Time to Say
Goodbye.
